Mapping Connections – Drop-in Arts Activity

Where are YOU from? Where’s your family from? What places have shaped who you
are? Drop in any time and add your story to a large, collaborative artwork mapping
the cultural roots of Shepton Mallet — from just down the road to the other side of
the world. Whether your family has been in Somerset for generations or you arrived
last year, whether your roots are in Poland, Portugal, Punjab or Pilton — everyone
has a connection worth celebrating. Come and put yours on the map. Make
something, share a story, and take home your own personal culture map too. No
experience needed. Just turn up. All ages welcome (children must bring an adult with
them!). The finished culture map will be exhibited at Somerset Art Weeks Festival
2026 and permanently displayed in Shepton Mallet.
