Welcome to our campaign to reopen the Amulet as a multi-purpose community venue in Shepton Mallet.
A number of residents and community groups have come together and created a community benefit society and are now raising funds to purchase the building. This exciting opportunity has the potential to transform the centre of the Shepton Mallet and to regenerate our high street.
Designed in the bold brutalist style of the 1970s, the Amulet uses a unique moving floor to ingeniously transform from a 270 seat theatre to a 400 capacity dance hall, whilst being perfectly nestled right in the heart of Shepton Mallet town centre. The building was a gift for the town from the Showering Family. It operated as a popular theatre and community centre for many years but has been in private ownership and largely out of public use since 2011.
