A true pioneer of rock beginning in the 1960s— he emerged as one of the most electrifying performers of the era with a soulful voice of iconic magnitude and range. From headlining the original Pyramid stage at the Pilton Pop Party on Worthy Farm to rubbing shoulders with Zappa\, Hendrix and influencing shock-rock legends like Alice Cooper\, Brown’s impact is undeniable. Born in June 1944\, in Whitby\, he rose to fame with his explosive hit Fire—a track that topped the UK charts and reached No. 2 in the U.S. His 1968 debut album also cracked the Top Ten\, cementing his place in rock history. Decades later\, “Fire” still burns bright and featured memorably in the local film Hot Fuzz. His signature flaming helmet\, dramatic costumes\, and boundary-pushing performances helped define the visual language of live rock shows. Still evolving\, he continues to collaborate—including with local experimental group Moulettes—and performs with a powerhouse band featuring top-tier musicians Jim Mortimore\, Sam Walker\, and Dan Smith (of Noisettes). DESCRIPTION:Professional dance company Ekleido are undertaking a one-week residency in Shepton Mallet in mid-October. They will be adapting two of their breathtaking performances that incorporate voguing\, bonebreaking and threading club/street dance styles and that are usually performed in major dance venues\, ready to undertake a national rural venue tour next year under the Rural Touring Dance Initiative. Shepton Mallet’s Let’s Buy the Amulet and Make The Sunshine organisations joined forces and are excited to be co-ordinating the residency together with Take Art – Somerset’s rural touring charity. The residency will include some community engagement activity at Create@#8 with local groups and public events finishing with a full performance in Croscombe Village Hall on Saturday 25th October. \n\nJoin creative duo Ekleido for a mesmerising dance experience featuring original music by world-renowned electronic musician Floating Points.  Immerse yourself in a spellbinding display of impressive acrobatics\, bodily contortions\, dazzling costumes and spectacular lights. Ekleido’s club-inspired magic will make this a night to remember! \n\n\n\n\n\nOpening the programme is Ekleido’s critically acclaimed Splice in which two dancers find the balance between limitation and possibility to solve a physical puzzle. \nCompleting the evening is Rorschach\, a trio that reimagines the iconic Rorschach inkblot test. In this work\, we encounter a future society where individuals are subjected to a mandatory Rorschach trial—a journey of self-revelation and survival where participants confront psychological endurance\, moral compass\, and physical limitations.  \nEkleido is a choreographic duo made up of Hannah Ekholm and Faye Stoeser choreographing for live performance and film. They have both individually had extensive dance careers within the contemporary dance world\, commercial industry and underground club dance scenes\, often crossing paths with each other on projects including Rambert\, Years & Years and within The Ballroom Scene. \n \nEkleido’s work has been performed in venues and festivals including: Sadler’s Wells Breakin’ Convention\, Glastonbury Festival\, Latitude Festival\, The Place\, Ministry of Sound Ballet Nights\, and Fairfield Halls. His legacy of world-infused dance and ambient music is as glittering as it is diverse\, ranging from Hollywood film sound credits to the critically acclaimed Last Train to Lhasa\, first released to a rapturous reception in 1995.  Live\, he has worked in a range of formats ranging from solo shows to a full 5-piece band. He is currently touring as a solo show accompanied by a live video artist. \nMike Dennis brings classical violin loops with ferocious tongue-twisting wordplay slathered over the top and homemade breakbeats. The musical Hamilton in a one-man act.  \nSATURDAY 27th SEPTEMBER\nZemroy Thomas\, better known by his stage name Da Fuchaman\, is an internationally renowned Jamaican reggae singer\, songwriter and member of the Rastafari movement. Da Fuchaman’s music is deeply rooted in spirituality and he prides himself for spreading love and positive vibrations to the masses everywhere that he goes. \nHe and his ten-piece collective have been taking the festival scene by storm; Headlining Bristol Harbourside Festival\, Bournemouth Reggae Weekender and Inglefest and performing at a diverse range of festivals including Zwarte Cross (NL)\, Boomtown Fair\, Secret Garden Party\, Tropical Pressure\, Kendal Calling\, Greenman\, Forwards Festival\, Valley Fest\, Moovin Festival\, Riddim and Reggae Festival & Falmouth Reggae Festival and many more. \nExploding onto the scene in 2015 Welsh DJ/producer Timbali\, with his tight productions and eclectic style\, has become a successful figure in the reggae and dancehall scene.
